tutorial flight to familiarize with the software, a-m-a-z-i-n-g ! ! !

I always read manuals start to end, but only after the tutorial flights :) so errors on first take off do take place...

HUGE thanks to Push Back team, and mr. Ed Green for continuous support on this forum!

What was that 14th button on row 27, column 13, panel 7?

Just kidding.

Excellent shots.

yeah, it is like a space ship indeed!

but imagine the fact that compared to An-124/225, the cockpit of 747-200 is what a Cessna 172's to the DC-9's or a 737-200's :)

The 747 is awesome.. I have it and completely enjoy it. Can't wait for PMDG version of the 747-400.

thanks Cliff,
I do "homework" before I fly these, no less then C+ is necessary in order to start these up :)

...and my next homework is:

Great shots! I am curious, however, to the quality of the VC as well, I hear it has a very nice cabin. Can you give shots of that?

very nice. hehe enjoy the pss concorde. do you print the manuals, or just remember everything because i cannot see it being possible to remember the manuals, unless you have 2 screens

Hi Alex!
Really cool shots on a cool plane! Haven't flown lately this bird by myself but your shots reminded me to take her out of the hangar! Thanks! :)

Sweet shots! Great airplane! :D

thanks guys,

the VC is... ok (I don't know), I do not use it. Complex planes like this can not be flown from within VC.
Visit http://www.panelshop.com/RFP_V2.htm for pics.

It sure is not possible to remember the manuals, you gotta be kidding me :) I do print out the manuals, I have all my manuals here by my side. I read them when I go to sleep, 15-20/25 pages per day. But my first flight is done according to Tutorial (always included), not manual.

Thanks for the link. I agree, you can't completely fly from the VC, but in the PMDG planes, I do the takeoff and landing in the VC (unless I am hand flying the ILS in bad visability, then I use the 2-d). I was referring more to the virtual cabin though, which I hear has an upper and lower level. Thanks again!

oh the cabin! cabin is ok, I wouldn't know how to go downstairs though (main deck). This is a problem with any plane, I am allowed to travel horizontlaly, but can not figure out how to go vertically (up/dn). ??

Gads, what a monster plane. :7 Love it! Good shots of here, Alex.

[i]One small note though - all of your round instruments are out of round. Perhaps another screen resolution would remedy this. Measure ... you'll see, as this artist can see it with his eyes.

Very nice post. :-cool

thanks for the secret, Joe! Now I can show the guy some cabin...

You are an artist indeed, Dwayne :) I wanted to keep the lengh the same as that of other pics, but had to shrink the height so it could stay within 100kb size. Thanks Dwayne.

btw. the cabin is modeled from wings to cockpit only.

important edit: I merged the software with preferred POSky model, freeware models are more accurate and easier on fps, so I care less for VCs and cabins :) I buy these addons for its panel software only.

Wow! That's great! I bet it's hard on framerates, though. Thanks for the pics! I too mainly buy payware for the panel and systems, but I do also enjoy the VC for takeoff and landing, and the Virtual Cabin for cruise. Thanks again! :)

Ctrl-home and ctrl-end to move up or down, ctrl-pageup and ctrl-pagedown to tilt your head up and down, I think those are the default keys in ActiveCamera if you have it..

thanks everyone,

bjpilot: a bit heavy on fps, but when used with POSky model the frames are ok. It is not the software that contributes to slide-show, it is the visual model usually.

Beautiful shots. I had purchased this for myself as a christmas present back in December and I too printer all the manuals. It was worth every cent. The panel is so impressive. I love it. I use the default model but I am havig a fun issue where I can't get it to start in the sim cold and dark. And my PC needs to be tweaked but once thats all done I willl try and get shots and info about the default model if anyone would like to see.

Excellent shots :) Glad to see them!

thanks,

starting cold and dark is not a three-step process really, but there is a good start-up tutorial though, no way to get around it.

As good as you are with the proper procedures you need to be making a living flying them! I wish I could- I'm a wee bit too old now!

I commend you on taking the time to learn all of the requirements to really fly the craft!

I would not mind having you as the Captain on any plane that I took to the air with!

Thanks Cap.!

Take care,

Cliff

Wow! I have been interested in this plane for a while now, but I suspected parts of the external model were inaccurate, i.e. the engine pylons? It might just be me...
I'm glad to know it can be used with a simpler model. I might just buy it now!

BTW, I just got the DF 727, and that's great to fly from the VC. You can zoom out to 50%, tilt the view down and to the left, and simultaneously view and change the main flight instruments, engine instruments, avionics, and autopilot, and see all the warning annuciators, and the overhead is just a second's panning away... plus you can still see forwards. And the VC looks great too, which is a first for an airliner that I own...

thanks guys, DF727 is next on my "to buy" list.

PSS is cooking something interesting there, a 757 and a 777, I hope I will still be alive by the time it is released though.

Great shots and great plane. I think some of the hype around the difficulty scares people away though. If you are willing to put some time into it, there is a real satisfaction to transferring your own fuel by burn etc... It is not as bad as some may think though and once you get it, it is amazing... I am off to fly the LFPG -KJFK tutorial flight of the PSS Concorde. Hopefully you will not read about my crash somewhere over the Atlantic. (If I get that far)
The point of all this rambling is that I do not think people should fear away from these planes because of their complexity or the perception of how difficult they are. While they are difficult, they are not impossible and they are well worth it...
One of the things that amazed me with RFP is how well programmed it is. I do not see a major impact at all FPS wise when flying it and that is remarkable considering its detail. I have seen single engine prop add-ons bog my system down worse than the RFP V2. Amazing job by that team.

I remember my first flight in that aircraft it took me like an hour just to get setup it was brutal. The next thing I know I am doing it in 10 minutes. I loved ver 1 dont have 2 but am thinking about it. Problem is I am flying so much in the DF727 and patiently waiting the LvLD 767 which is my favorite airliner and fear most of what I own will gather rust from lack of flying for quite some time.

psolk: I do not think it is a good idea to convince everyone to try out a complex software... it might indeed be too complex for most (not RFP but any software there is).

now, LAGO has released the MD-80. I haven't bought it yet but I am so happy already. The price is crazy though, they went overboard pricing it, half a hundred dollars, I don't know who they think they are, but this is so disrespectful to everyone. The panel software is the only think i need, I will use it with Eric's MD models.

LD767, another one I can't wait, that shall be a blast to fly. I haven't had a chance to enjoy PIC in FS2002, so I am very eagered to try it now.

Sorry about that, wasn't trying to convince anyone did not mean for it to come across like that. I do think that RFP does scare some people away that might be fully capable though. By no means is this for the beginner but I am also no brain surgeon (that is for sure) and I can fly it. I stayed away for months because of the advertising and when I got it I was pleasantly surprisedand it is now one of my favorite planes.
Just trying to put some people at ease that these things are not sooooo bad as long as you are willing to put a little time and effort into it.
Hopefully that helps, apologies again.

Have you tried PSS Concorde? I see you like RFP for it is analog simulation :) I guess Concorde would be great as well, I just haven't had a time to do my homework on Concorde.

I just got it two nights ago. I will say that the PSS bird even with with VFE Virtual Flight Engineer appears to be much more complicated. It is either that or the RFP docs were just so good it seems that way. Very excited to master it though. I have the entire weekend to myself this weekend :)

I have it but never got to it, I want to try LAGO's MD-80 first.

DC-10! that's what I'd love to see done. I asked Pushbackers if they could possibly sit down at the table and talk about the DC-10 project... Unfortunatelly, they don't want to :(

but I appreciate their great 747 anyway.
