Actually it's the Tempest MK II with a different engine and cowling than most Tempests have.

A Tempest MK.II? Well, I double checked and triple checked shots before I added my little correction. Very deliberately so as to avoid looking like a smart ##### who turns out not to know as much as he thinks. And look what happened!

I have been an aviation nut since birth, and I have never come across the Tempest MK.II. Thank you for supplying todays item in the 'you learn something new every day' list.....

Gareth, the Mk II never actually saw combet, as she was the final version of the Tempest. Designed to fly against the Japanese, but the War ended before she entered service.
