I think that it would be great to be able to deploy the TR's anytime during the flight, I know that is not real and they are most often times linked to a squat switch.
But look at the dc-8's That was thier only means of in flights speed reduction other than the gear coming down.
Just a thought.

Engine failure several minutes after departing St. Thomas, USVI. Diverted to the nearest airport and actually got her down in one piece...very little runway left as you can see. I really like turning on the random failures in the Sim, makes for some challenging flying. I think I scared the pants off the PAX!!!!!
And some will probably question the thrust reversers deployed before touchdown, but I had to slow her down in a hurry, as it was basically fully laden with fuel/payload/PAX.
