Click on the tips icon at the top or bottom of this page. You really are not providing enough information about your system. I couldn't tell if it was and AMD or Intel CPU, type of sound card or on-board, etc.
I had the same problem with my geforce 2 I think iv fixed it now (fingers crossed) no lockups since touch wood
I installed the latest drivers 23.11 from nvidia here's the link http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=windows9x
also I don't know if you have the via agp chipset on your mother board I did so if you do you will also need the driver for that its the 4 in 1 driver here's the link for the via http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2

you say you have A (as in ONE?) fan in your machine? Is that the case fan? are the sides on? Believe me, that is not enough. You need one of the large fans (globe or orb type) on the processor, AND an onboard fan DIRECTLY on the video chip, also with high airflow. Those who have no lockups have these. I have the same basic setup you do, and my machine NEEDS a TABLE fan blowing DIRECTLY on (across) the boards, ONLY when FS2002 is running, for more than 15mins or so.

I have basically the same setup. AMD 1.3, GEForce200MX32meg, VIA chipset/sound, 512 meg ram. Still have problems with G3D.dll but make sure on the dxdiag.exe that the AGP setting is disabled. This aided me. Also check the sound acceleration setting as different settings changed the performance.
Good Luck,

Hi James,
I have the SAME problem with freezing in FS2002 when on final approach or taxiing at NIGHT. I see a brief rainbow of colors (pink, white, etc.), then the ENTIRE system freezes. The only way to get out of Windows is by shutting the power down. I also have the GeForce2 MX400 64mb video card (PCI version). I will try to get the newest drivers from Nvidia and see what happens. It seems to occur when "MIP MAPPING" is selected in FS02.
My System specs:
Intel Pentium III 733mhz
256 mb ram
20gb h.d.
Windows ME with NO other programs loaded except FS2002!
Creative Sound Blaster PCI 512 sound card
Verto GeForce2 MX400 64MB PCI video card
I normally get 25fps frame rates even in heavy precip and in clouds.

Hey ifr0 & James!
It worked. I upgraded the drivers from Nvidia for the GeForce2 MX400 card (6.4mb download), rebooted and loaded the situation in which the freezing occurs. The problem is GONE!!!!
YES!!!! I am a happy camper again!!!! :-) :-)
Thanks, ifr0!
