Hey All.
Well, I just got back from my first crosscountry here in Canada. It was very long. 4 hours flight time.
We took a Piper Warrior and left at about 10:00am local time. and got back around 5pm local time ( 2 hours to hang out at the two different different airports we landed at.)
I hope you enjoy the pics, There are some pretty cool pics here.

Chris, my flight instructor, trying to figure out where the heck we are. :D

Out around these's necks of Canada there is not many reference points to look for. It's very easy to get lost.

Not much out there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, as you know I'm always looking for ways to take unique pictures. and I don't think anyone has stuck there camera outside the airplane before and took a picture.

http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3ec6b7c40ec032a8.jpg
NOTE: you can see the tail of a NorthWest. Northwest does not fly into Gander, but it had an emergancy and had to land last night. As you'll see that was not the only emergancy plane.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3ec6b7310e49d456.jpg
WOW, look at the size of that thing!! AN 124-100 I think.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3ec6b8d80fadc7a8.jpg
A KLM 747-400 also made an emergancy landing this morning!. We got some treat today. Two airlines that never come to this airport were here today. It was really exciting to see them.
Also, the other KLM that is there came from Europe not so long ago to deliver new parts to the 747 in hoping they could fix it.

Goodbye Gander.

These airplanes have a lot of space huh?

Ah, what a lovely sea. It almost looks like the sky.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know if this turns out well, but here is a small section of the map we used.
http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3ec6bb6811c8ca5f.jpg
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I hope you all enjoyed the pictures as It took some effort to get them. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. It would be greatly appreciated .

And also, I got my first picture upload to jetphoto's,

It is? What is the main difference in that and the -400? ... I'd like to know so I get it right the next time I see a 747-200. I'm surprised you could in those pictures though, the detail is bad.

Is that Ice on the Leading edge on the 11 image. Also does the Pilot sit on the Right side with regards to the fact the aircraft is in Europe.

Cool shots thanks for sharing them.

Thanks for the comments so far guys.

Actually, this flight took place in Canada, not Europe, so the Pilot in Command sites on the Left seat. But, I was sitting in the left seat even though my Flight instructor is considered the Pilot In command. It's just the way they teach I guess.
Nope, lucky that is not ice. The airplane is just in dier need of a paintjob. lol

I saw a Cherokee Warrior at KBFI yesterday were Ill bet the paint had some parisiticle drag on the flight dynamics...it looked like some of those Dodge Aries in the 80s.....hope you know what I mean.

Well I know what you mean by the parasite drag. ( I can never remember if it would be parasite drag or skin friction. ) But about the 1980's dodge Aries, well, I was only born in 85' so I don't know many cars from the 80's.lol

Great pics! Do you know why those planes made the emergency landings?

To Mr. Smith: The pilot in command (captain) usually sits in the left seat wherever you are in the world. However, usually during primary instruction the instructor (PIC) sits in the right seat and the student sits in the left.

Great shots, always nice to see real pics!

You were lucky to see that Antonov! I think the only large Russian aircraft that regularly operates in NZ where I am is a couple of IL-76's.

Nice pics, I think that KLM is a 747-400D as the -200 does not have an upper deck as big as that

Hehe it is a Boeing 747-200SUD as said above. KLM doensn't have any KLM747-400Ds.

The B747-200SUD is an upgrade of the 747-200. It's a mix between the 747-300 and 400. These nice birds are going to be replaced by 777s in 2004.

They also have an upgraded cockpit with an EHSI,EADI and FMCs

Yeah, as said, the 200SUD is a regular 200 with the -300 upper deck, so it is a mix between 200 and 300. SUD stands for Stretched Upper Deck.

Hello Everyone!.
Sorry I have not said Thanks yet, but I've been busy with planning more crosscountrys.
I'm really glad everyone liked my pictures! Thanks so much for the comments and for clearing up the KLM issue.

pacallen, I'm not quite sure what happened, but I'll ask around and get some answers for ya soon.
It sure was great taxiing infront of that Antonov. I've never taxiied beside an airplane that big before, I felt like an ant.
I'll try and take some more pictures sometime. This post has motivated me to take more. :D:D

Chris! Great photos. Thanks for sharing. It's always nice to see the real side of aviation. Poking the camera outside for a shot. You're crazy!

On a side note - I went up a couple of weeks ago for an intro lesson. It was a Christmas gift from my wife's sister. Too fun! I don't see how I'll be able to continue though. Too many other obligations. :-( Take care.

Hey Everyone.
How are ya all doin on this Monday?
Thanks for the comments all, I'm glad you like them... I two bits of good news...
First: Yesterday I completed my FIRST solo crosscountry!!!! :D:D:D. I had a total of 5.8 flight hours.. I thought It was never going to end. I sure was glad to lay in my bed last night.
I kinda forget to take my cam though.. sorry.
Other good news is my dad baught me a new digital camera to celebrate. It's also a video camera, so I'll be able to take much better shots, and possible record some landings on video!!
( URL:http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/a70-60/index.html )

Here is a pic taken with my old cam.

http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3ed2982716c1e06b.jpg

Now with my new one..
http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3ed2985016f8b266.jpg
I'm not sure if I can tell much of a difference though. :(.. but this cam does have zoom, unlike my other cam.
http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3ed2988b172294c6.jpg
10X digital zoom, not too bad I guess.

Oh well, I've rambeled on for long enough, time to do some homework.

Hey Chris, Nice pictures. Most of my 400 hours is in the venerable Piper Warrior II. I'm just curious, did your instructor know that you posted shots of him sleeping on the internet? I actually had an instructor fall asleep during a instrument proficiency flight...he just kinda of dosed off. Its very reasurring, don't you think!
