Obviously, it's impossible to decide which is better. Both produce equally good jets. The 777 and A340 are two of my favorite airplanes. I love the 737 (Particularly the -200) and I am gainig faith in the A320 (Though I am still opposed to extensive computerization in any aircraft). So, when it comes to deciding who is better, I find it a hard choice to make...
Enough with the bullcr@p, I just put that up there so it'd appear in the preview. I have decided to end the argument once and for all:
Fly DC Jets!

[font color=black] UPDATED IMPORTANT INFORMATION: -
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: - Speed restrictions in the FMC and the DIR/INTC button will be implemented shortly. The 737 FMC is different than the 777 FMC, 747 FMC, and 767 FMC - they're different planes. Always be sure to execute your flight plan. Autopilot can not be engaged until 400' AGL. Bank angle selector will not be implemented until FS2002. The real 737 does not have wheel well covers when the gear is retracted. Reinstall your drivers(Latest) and DirectX(Latest). Remove PageFlip=1 from your FS2000.cfg file. Make sure your generators are on to display EADI/EHSI. If you don't see the livery that you want, paint it and share with others. FSNavigator will not fly the Greatest Airliners 737, fly the plane yourself. Once you can fly it yourself, you are now allowed to use the FMC. The CD will be out soon - no set date, so try downloading it, as you do not purchase it until after you download it. Finally, read the fabulous manuals (RTFM).
And remember, it was never their intent to make a PS1!

No, but sh*t coming out of a 727 knocked the engine off once...;-)
I like 'em all. I just love airplanes.

Yeah, but they saved half of the lives because that hunk o junk was the best made ;-)
Shall I mention the Airbus that drove itself into the ground against pilot commands?

727 ALL THE WAY! I even have an idea to send to Boeing for a 727-300! Also... DELTA ALL THE WAY!

The RNZAF still uses the 727-200 (I think it might be the -100, nor sure), and every single time it goes over my house on short finals to Wellington Intl, I want to get my camera and take as many pics as I can with those beutiful smoky engines pumping out the good stuff :-lol
Unfortunatly they might be getting rid of it, and opting for an A320 :-( Be a shame if they did...not that I have anything against Airbus, its the 727 thats kept me in love with aviation :-lol
Cheers,
James

Boeing is my choice....I can remember the first time I saw a triple 7 up close. I was at JFK waiting for my flight and this huge aircraft pulls into the gate next to mine. The size of the GE90 engines...WOW.
I also favor Boeing, cause I have over 2500 hrs in the B-52.

I remember my 'first encounter' too.
It was at LAX, I was planespotting as usual, and I see this big United jet...I looked at it, trying to figure out what it was, it was HUGE, and had these wierd triple bogie mains...my uncle said "See that? That's the 777.". I had never seen one up close before, and the only time I'd ever seen pictures was on an TV show on PBS about the testing of the 777...
It was AMAZING. I still hope to see a 777 whenever I go to LAX...but they're rare.

I love all airplanes, but my favorites are the Boeings. The 727 is still flying nearly 35 years later. The 757 which is sorta based on the 727, is my all time favorite ( watch one climb-out once when it is lightly loaded, rocketship comes to mind) The 757 is one of the best looking planes ever made. Now, these are my opinions, you are free to your own.
But Airbus makes some interesting stuff too. I find the A330 more interesting design-wise than the 777. I find myself amazed at all the techno stuff in the A320 family.
In short, they BOTH make great airplanes, it's all a matter of what you like better.
What about the DC-9? Usair beat those planes for years and they just kept going. They just retired the last one August 15th. Even the Fokker F-100 (which I KNOW I am in a minority on this one) has things I like about it.
Planes are just cool to begin with... :)

Like I said - fly DC Jets!
DC-9, MD80...they're all good to me!
..And the 757! They climb like rockets when loaded too! I've been in one!
..And if you compare many features, you can see a refined 727 in the 757's shape. This was intentional. The original 757 was to be a lengthened 727...believe it or not. Obviously the scrapped that.
