does my interest in aviation come from? I was in first grade when
Pearl Harbor was attacked and from the beginning I became very aware
of the war effort, especially regarding US airplanes. My father was
a US Army doctor who served during the war in the southwest Pacific
for four years in Australia, New Guinea and many of the island
groups, in part, taking care of B-24 air crews. Twelve years after
WWII, I spent three years in the USAF, SAC, 8th Air Force, in the
ground staff of a KC-97 air refueling squadron in a B-47 Wing. My
brother was a USAF doctor during the Vietnam War.I am married, with a daughter and four sons one of which is a US Air Force Academy graduate, a USAF Reserve C-130 Aircraft Commander, and a commercial 737 pilot. My brother-in-law, a former C-141 pilot, flies the 737 and 757 commercially.
My interest in flightsimming began in the 80's with the SubLogic simulator and an Apple II+ computer. Later it was on to FS5 and Flight Shop, FS98 and FS2000. Since retirement from a career in electrical engineering and management, I have turned to aircraft development, with encouragement from my family. My sim models include a large proportion of my favorite WWII aircraft, as well as some modern military and civilian aircraft.
My greatest satisfaction comes from hearing from simmers around the world, and especially WWII veteran pilots who flew the actual aircraft in question. I am privileged to correspond with some of them, gaining their insights and suggestions, and vivid recollections of their flying experiences; it's as though they are reliving them in the present. I dedicate my WWII aircraft designs to them.
