WHO'S WHO

Dave McQueen

A native of San Francisco I grew up in an airline environment. Dad was a supervisor for Pan American World Airways. So it may have been natural that I developed an interest in the big airliners. I used to watch the big pistoned props and early jets take off and land at SFO through a low power telescope from the vantage point of the San Bruno mountains north of the airport.

After graduating from college and a short year with Pan Am I went to work for the FAA as an air traffic controller. That was in 1969. Having lived through the air traffic control massacre in 1981 and struggled along with those of us who stayed on the job to rebuild the system, as this is written I continue to labor in this profession as a radar controller at Oakland Center.

A life member of the World Airline Historical Society, Transocean Air Lines Alumni Association, ARRL (KK0M), among my hobbies are collecting old model airplane kits, even building a few; collecting information on the Boeing Stratocruiser, the plane I grew up around; putting out a WWW page called: Airliners From the Past and building or painting an occasional airplane in Flight Shop. My web released efforts to date are the Boeing Stratocruiser in 7 versions; a C97; and a TWA Boeing Stratoliner.

Through the Internet I have met many super people whose interests parallel my own, and the exchange of information at the speed of light has helped all of us to improve and learn at a rate never before possible. Lead on Internet!
