has fascinated me since I was a kid. After I got my first PC in 1986,
my wife Patricia surprized me with FS II as a birthday gift. For
months I flew almost daily. I soon mastered the basics and eventually
a bit more. Still, several things seemed to be missing from the
complete flight experience: realistic weather, accurate flight plans,
authentic approach charts for low-visibility approaches (and in the
four-colour CGA of that time, every approach was an IFR-challenge by
nature!).So I wrote my own flight planner and random weather generator for private use. Friends, equally addicted, found the program useful and encouraged me to send a copy to a software editor. I was hesitant, but finally agreed. To my biggest surprize, they sent me a contract within a couple of days! Only weeks later, the program went commercial as Navigator V1.0 for MS Flight Simulator.
Today, Navigator has grown up to V6.0 and has become quite a success in many countries worldwide. My second project, Final Approach, is a Windows-based approach chart atlas and designer. The program includes a great number of functions to make the design of realistic approach charts quick and easy. Soon after its release in 1994, users around the globe started designing charts for their home airports, and today no less than 3100 (!) charts for airports worldwide are available free to any Final Approach user. Just Flight also publishes a retail version, Final Approach 2000 Edition.
Since January 1, 1997, info about the programs, patches, FAQs, flight plans and charts can be found at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/glorsche. See you there!
Happy landings to all flight simmers!
