I'm 43 and work as a journalist in Madrid for a very important
national magazine and also worked until last July for
Tele5, one of the biggest TV channels in Spain and also trying to
follow in the design of sceneries in a professional way.I remember that when I was 14 years old my father made me a present: it was a beautiful white Caravelle. One week later I told my father "Hey dad, I should like to become a pilot." He answered to me that he agreed but that (at those times in Spain, 1970) I had to join in the Spanish air force. That was something that made me say "No by the moment". I disagree with the idea of joining the army in any way. So, maybe one year later I decided to become in a journalist. It has one similar aspect...this would let me travel all over the world!
Well, so I did, until in 1989 a photographer at my work made me another gift in a box: Microsoft Flight Simulator 3.0. I think this was the moment in which I could remember my first vocation: airplanes, navigation, my old white Caravelle again. After this came FS4, and (great discovery) FS5.0 and FS5.1 with all of its great graphics. At the time of FS4 I bought the Aircraft & Scenery Designer from Microsoft. I remember I was bored of flying only from Meigs to O'Hare and from New York to Boston. I thought it would be great to fly from Madrid to Barcelona or Sevilla in the FS. So Aircraft & Scenery Designer was wonderful to me. And I can say my first attempt in designing a Spanish scenery was using that tool.
Later I designed, using Airport 1.1, my first whole Spanish scenery for FS5. At that time I was not yet connected to the Internet, so I was the only one enjoying my work. But it didn't matter. Being connected to Internet (since 1995), was another great discovery in my life. At that moment I could share my designs all over the world. As you know, Spain Global Scenery (and all its important updates) is my last attempt in a freeware mode of a total Spain scenery. I think right now it's over 15000 downloads from FlightSim.Com in a year and two months! Really I'm proud of it. Also it was the first Spain scenery designed by a Spanish guy. The first Spanish scenery was designed, as you may know, by Alfred Grech. But he's not Spanish, he is from Malta and lives in Canada (I think).
I'm designing a CD payware version of my Spain Global Scenery, but I have also designed some beautiful custom typically Spanish buildings and monuments in freeware mode. I hope to upload soon to FlightSim.Com these new buildings and terminals for the freeware version of my Spain Global Scenery.
Also, and last, in two or three months I shall begin to become a private pilot. I love to fly, I love IFR flights.
And well...I hope you weren't bored with this small biography. The photo shows me sitting on the deck of a B757 profesional simulator in SENASA, the official Spanish organisation for training pilots. It was made one night, after making a report for TV and after flying it for five hours...really, really amazing for me!
