![]() Jeff Smith with GOLD version of FLY! |
erminal Reality put the final
touches on Fly! and it was ready to ship. After three long years of work, a dream
turned into reality and it was time to have a party. The week before
the party Brett Combs and Jeff Smith got in touch with me at FlightSim.Com and
invited me to join them. So I jumped on a plane, flew down to Dallas and joined
the party.
As I walked through the front door of Terminal Reality Jeff was standing there holding on to the GOLD version of FLY! He said "Dan, You're the first person outside of Terminal Reality to see the GOLD". I said, Jeff give me that! As I made a dash for the disks, he jumped back, turned and ran down the hallway. All was not lost, because I knew just where to look for him and the disks!
Minutes later Richard Harvey and Brett Comb were packing up the first two GOLD copies of FLY! to be sent out the door.

It was great to be back in Texas. Behind Brett was a poster that reminded me of the Terminal
Velocity days when they were just getting started. I got to be a big part of
that success due to the fact that it was my company, Software Creations, at the time
that did all their online distribution. Now we were working together again, and this
time instead of Software Creations the #1 BBS in the world, it was FlightSim.Com the
#1 flightsim site in the world. And instead of Terminal Velocity, it's FLY! soon to be
the #1 flightsim in the world. Brett, Rich, and Jeff and I all had some laughs, caught up
on a bunch of small talk then got down to business. That business was telling me where the party was
going to be.

The Main Event was the perfect place as far as I was concerned to have the bash. Jeff warned
me, before I flew down, that this party was not going to be a huge bash like some of the others
they have done, but it would be a lot of fun. Besides, they were going to give out some very
important awards to the team members. The best part was the fact that the entire FLY!
team would be there so I could meet them all, in one spot for the last time before they all
went on vacation for two weeks.
I would like to point out that it is extremely important to us at FlightSim.Com to recognize
the PEOPLE behind the great flightsim products. It is one of the biggest reasons we take the
time to document their role in the development of such a complex product. It's all too often that we as flightsimmers scramble to get the latest screen shots, or aircraft specifications
only to forget about the people who created them. Many long and thankless hours have gone into
the development of these programs, which give us so many hours of enjoyment.
Let's join the party!
