Western Wisconsin Scenery
by Dan Vanevenhoven (16 September 1998)

John Voznak did a wonderful job on the scenery
and the dynamics.

Madison Wisconsin
INTRODUCTION
As you can see, coming into Madison, Wisconsin on runway 18 with
WWIS1B2/WWIS_DYN1 can be a lot trickier than with FS98 default
scenery. Designer John Voznak has more than one major airline carrier
here as well. At the terminal you can even find the baggage handling
vehicles running around your aircraft when you land.
INSTALLATION
The installation of this scenery is very easy and very well
documented in both the static and dynamic scenery files. However I
would recommend not using the dynamic scenery unless you have a 166
MHz computer or faster as there is a lot going on at one time and the
dynamics are very memory hungry.
AIRPORTS
There are alot of airports in WWIS. I can't possible describe all the
airports, but they include: Adams, Amery, Black River Falls,
Blackhawk, Baraboo - Wisconsin Dells, Bong Field, Boscobel,
Boyceville, Burnett County, Cable Union, Chetek, Cornell, Cumberland,
Dane Co. Truax Field, Durand, Eagle River, Eau Claire*(EAU),
Grantsburg, Hayward, Iowa County, Kennedy Memorial, La Crosse*(LSE),
Lakeland Lee Memorial, Lancaster, Land O' Lakes, Madeline Island,
Madison Truax Field*(MSN), Manitowish Waters, Marshfield, Medford,
Merrill, Menomonie, Monroe, Morey, Mosinee*(CWA), Necedah*(DAF),
Neillsville, New Lisbon - Mauston, New Richmond, Osceola, Park Falls,
Prarie Du Chien, Portage, Platteville, Prentice, Price County,
Reedsburg, Red Wing, Rhinelander, Rice Lake*(RPD), Richland Center,
River Falls, Rusk County, Sauk-Praire, Shell Lake, Solon Springs,
Sparta - Fort McCoy*(CMY), Stevens Point*(STE), Tomah, Tomahawk,
Tri-County Regional, Viroqua, Volk Field*(VOK), Wausau, Wisconsin
Rapids*(ISW), Waunakee, Wautoma and Winona (MN).

REVIEW
You can see from the screen shots above that adding the dynamic
scenery makes a lot of difference. The buildings are
surprising realistic. It is very apparent that in designing this
scenery John Voznak has used more than just a regular VFR chart.
His attention to detail is incredible, right down to correct aircraft
at the gates. Everything seems very much in place. Good examples of
this are Madison, La Crosse and Rhinelander, three very different
airports. Madison has its DC9-15's and 737's and multiple air
carriers and a lot of service vehicles (which is very realistic). You
almost want to have a ground controller at La Crosse with its Saab
340's and more private aircraft just off to the right of the main
terminal. Then Rhinlander-Oneida (with no dynamic scenery) has its
Beech 1900's and you can see the lighted hangars and its circle drive
have all been duplicated. All these airports are very realistic and
very well done.

Rhinelander Wisconsin
FINAL THOUGHT
This scenery is a must for anyone flying in the Wisconsin area. There
is a lot to see here. Much attention has been paid to building off
the airport areas as well as at the airports. There are also a lot of
transmission towers to watch out for, for those of you that like low
flying. I have followed John's scenery from the time he started with
just central Wisconsin being covered to now over half the state.
Hopefully some day he will have the whole state covered. Again very
well done scenery John, I hope to see alot more.
