Introduction
I was pleased when I got this awesome scenery. I loved the detail and
the static aircraft but most of all the trees and fences surrounding
the airport and I would like to congratulate John Young on this
awesome scenery and I look forward to any more of his projects he may
be doing.
The Scenery
I am an 11 year old boy and I own FS2000 Pro Edition. I fly for the
Stansted hub for
KLM Virtual Airlines and I am training in real life
in a Piper PA-38 Tomahawk.
Since I fly for KLM I needed some scenery for Stansted and one day I
found this file and I thought it was great. The static aircraft were
great and the parking gates were of very high detail. The cargo
trucks are also very lifelike and creative.
I usually park at gate 47 because I also fly for Buzz Virtual
Airlines and as I said before, parking by a 737 with the same colors
and same plane as the one I'm flying is a very thrilling sight. Too
bad the registration number is the same.
The Gates, Static Planes And Cargo Holders
To see what the static aircraft are read the readme file and it will
tell you. The static aircraft files are divided into two BGL files so
if your frame rate is not that good use only one or if you have a
high quality computer then use both. I only use one because with all
the weather I fly in the frame rate can drop pretty low. The gates or
air bridges are really great. They are big with the word "Stansted"
in black bold lettering printed on the side. There are also signs on
the grass telling you the terminal gate numbers. For example,
terminal one says Stans gates 1-14 and so on. I was also impressed
with the yellow taxi lines. The cargo holder trucks are probably the
most detailed I have ever seen. They are worth a look.
Flaws
There are some flaws in this scenery I experienced when I loaded
the second patch for FS2000 Pro Edition. For example, the shadows
were all over the place and there was this big black blob on the
screen. [Note: an update to the scenery was recently released to
address these problems.] Also at dawn, dusk and night there are
these big square black
blobs beneath the gates and I don't think the taxiway lines are thick
enough and they seem a bit bright. But the scenery is still great at
day without the patch.
I give the scenery a score of 98 out of a possible 100.
(I took 2 points of for the flaws).
Thanks for reading my review and I will review more projects soon.
