nce you discover
flight with rudder pedals you'll wonder how you survived this long
without them. The Virtual Pilot Pro Pedals from CH Products
are my favorite pedals I've tried. They are tilted up at more of an
angle than other pedals on the market, thus making them more
realistic. Also, they are close together, as real airplane pedals
are. You rest your feet on them with your heels against the heel
guard that's on the pedal itself. This keeps your foot from slipping
down off the pedal. They are constucted of hard plastic and the base
is of heavy duty construction. I have had this pair for almost 3
years and they have yet to show signs of wear and tear.
The movement is very smooth and precise. The pedals do tilt forward
when you step on your feet to simulate braking however I have yet to
see any software that ever supports this. I don't know if CH was
supposed to go further with this feature, or if our favorite games
and simulations have never bothered implementing the brakes feature
of the pedals. This is a shame, but if you're flying Microsoft
Flightsim, all you have to do is to hold down the brake key or your
yoke button for brakes, and at the same time push your feet to tilt
the pedals for brakes and pretend! I've done that for years!
The installation is easy. All you must do is attach your yoke or joystick to the pedals cable via the provided adapter and then the pedals connector goes into your joystick port.
Occasionally I like to do other things than fly (like, very rarely) but when I do, the pedals will work on auto racing games via the "fly/drive" switch. In that case, the "drive" switch makes the pedals work as gas and brake for a car.
My craving for more expensive and more professional flight sim hardware has me wanting to buy many things, but the value of these pedals will not have me replacing them anytime soon.
