Oryx Simulation Software or Oryxsim launched around 2010, specializing in building add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and X. The company started by offering freeware sceneries for Salalal and Khasab. The company has recently announced their new project named as "Arabian Airports X", to build detailed sceneries for the area of Middle East especially Arabian states airports.

To start, Oryxsim decided to build Muscat airport as being one of the major airports in the Middle East. Below is a short summary of the product:

Let's Make A Start!

Viewing the airport from the top, compared to the recent charts, this airport is very much up-to-date and includes a majority (if not all) of the buildings within the vicinity of the airport.

Taking a close look at airport textures, we can notice that Oryxsim has built this scenery with a lot of care. Photorealistic textures and great modeling make this airport a must have.

                           

Moving outside the airport apron, we can notice that Oryxsim has placed a variety of buildings and objects that make this scenery another beauty to have.

   

Benchmark

In this benchmark, I decided to use the most detailed models to measure what the scenery had to offer to us. I used the PMDG MD-11 and the iFly 737NG. My testing methodology is to test the two models in virtual cockpit and 2D cockpit while on stand and while rotating.

Overall, I suffered little drop in FPS, nothing to complain about.
