Mooney M20M (Bravo) Panel

By Dan Vanevenhoven (3 March 2000)

The Mooney M20M Bravo panel by R.L. Clark (MNYPNL.ZIP) is very close to the real aircraft and comes complete with its own gauge set. Being a real-time Mooney pilot myself I was very impressed. The gauges are very realistic to the gauges on a newer stock Mooney. This panel was done using factory cockpit photos of a real Mooney Bravo and it shines clear.

The main gauges (right) on this panel are very true to life, but do appear to be a little big compared to the real life Mooney but are very easy to read at this slightly increased size. The engine gauges (center) are all in their proper places and very easy to read and fully functional, unlike some replacement panels out there. The gear and flap gauges (left) are very well done also, however I did notice the transition lamp for the gear doesn't function. As far as I can see it is impossible to make a lamp like the transition lamp on the Mooney in FS. The fuel flow and ALT (right) are both in their right place but Heading, Gear and Trim are not. Seeing as this is FS and makers of monitors have not come up with a monitor shaped like a real panel their location here does make sense, since in the real Mooney you would find the trim on the yoke. Again, a good idea to put the trim here as most people in FS don't have a trim control on their yoke.

He also has very good set of switches complete with the notable click in transition. The AVION switch does control the radio stack which reveals a GPS. You can choose from two GPS's which accent the panel. To make the change is very easy to do in the panel cfg file, and explained in-depth in the documentation that comes with the panel. The last picture is of a real Mooney Bravo and you can see for yourself how close this panel is to the real thing. You can tell that a lot of time was spent on this panel to make it as real as it gets. Hats off to Robert L. Clark for a job well done. I highly recommend this panel to anyone flying a Mooney in flightsim.
