Spanish Flightsimmer Community Is In Good Health, Thank You
Three hundred flightsimmers are members of a virtual flying club
"Aeroclub Simuvuelo"
(may be translated as "Flysim Airclub") founded in 1995. At least
five VA's are operating in Spain (two of them are domestic); IVAO Spanish
Division
(http://www.ivao.org/es)
has been opened recently, with more than 600 members (pilots and
controllers); several email distribution lists and web pages are
operating for the Spanish flightsimmer community, related to general
flight simulation, virtual ATC, general aviation, VA, etc.
Could we say that Spanish flightsimming enjoys good health? The
answer should be: "Yes, of course". But we could not find the reason
for this answer only in the argument above. These are important, but
not enough to explain why our health is so strong as we mean.
Going deeper, we can find other powerful reasons to uphold this idea:
- Last year, a new staff was elected for our virtual flying club
"Aeroclub Simuvuelo". They replaced the preceding team that was
integrated by the pioneers who founded and promoted flightsim in
Spain, pioneers who let in a new generation of flightsimmers,
pioneers we are greatly indebted to. That shows a dynamic community,
doesn't it?
- Frequently you will find controllers or planes in virtual skies
of Spain at SATCO or IVAO networks. You can join an event organized
by Aeroclub Simuvuelo, the IVAO Spanish Division or virtual airlines
based on our country fortnightly. That is nice because I mean this is
the future of flightsimming. Even foreign controllers help in these
tasks.
- We are amazed by the excellent work of a great deal of Spanish
designers developing local sceneries, visual model of planes,
add-ons, etc. almost daily.
- Monthly electronic magazines are being published by VA's, Aeroclub
Simuvuelo, IVAO-ES sections...to keep their members and readers
updated.
- Every year, Spanish simmers meet in an aerodrome (Casarrubios,
Fuentemilanos, La Juliana, Monflorite this year...) where people live
in perfect harmony and enjoy virtual competitions and real flights.
This annual summit is called "Simuvuelo" and, without a shadow of a
doubt, is the main event and quite an affair for all. Everybody awaits
anxiously the meeting to have a nice weekend, old and new good
friends together, between last generation computers and traditional
aeroplanes. People work hard to get everything ready starting weeks
before. And people will work hard the days after, creating videos,
photos and chronicles. Does anyone make a better offer?
All these elements show a view of flightsimming in Spain that is very
promising, with plenty of people managing or taking part in this
task. It is true that there are a lot of things to do yet, but taking
a look at our fair present, anyone realizes that we will have an
interesting and better future.
Finally, maybe the most important result of our good health is that,
through Internet, it has been possible that people share this
fantastic hobby; and in the "real life" a crowd of simmers and
friends are growing all together, joining their efforts, experiences,
knowledge...In our opinion, this is the heart of any kind of hobby
and, why not? Of the human being.
As Freddy Mercury used to sing: "The show must go on", we hope.
