St. Aubin Dieppe France

When growing up but the age of 8 years old, I would visit my grandparents in Dieppe, France and sit with them in their house that was on the airport. My grandfather was an air traffic controller for the airport.

The airport is used for small planes and sky divers.

What the airport had, the tower was right next to the house with one big hangar behind the house. Across the hangars was a small diner where pilots would go to have lunch or maybe breakfast. As I can remember or think the airport had only one runway. The airport was located across the street from a farm and not many other buildings were near. The airport had a fence along the side where the street was with a gate that you had to open to drive your car through. There was also a phone both near the gate door.

The Flight Simulator St. Aubin

While starting up Flight Simulator, I remember the airport I would go to visit my grandparents, and thought maybe it's on here. So I go to create flight, pick my airport and then pick what airport and location. There it was, in Dieppe, France--St. Aubin.

I was like, “Cool” get to fly where I visited. Click fly now, game loaded and I looked around and it really did not look the same. Did the airport get a rebuild? It did not. Microsoft made it wrong.

Microsoft has used St. Aubin airport in Flight Sim 2002 as in Flight Sim 2000. Everything is the same, nothing was made to make it more real. The buildings are not in the right place, the tower also isn’t and there are more hangars in the game then in real life. As Microsoft say “As Real As It gets” it should be “As not Real As It Gets” I thought not making the airport look like in real life is sad, sad for me and for any of the pilots that that fly and use Flight Simulator 2002. Will Flight Simulator 2004 have St. Aubin made right? Don’t hold your breath!

What I hope is that Flight Simulator 2004 will have St. Aubin designed right so “As Real As It Gets’ can really mean something. If not, it would be cool if someone reading this that know how to build airports could remake St. Aubin. It would be cool.
