VAE Super Bowl Fly In

The Virtual Aviation Experience will be hosting a fly in at the Miami International Airport for traffic supporting Super Bowl XLIV. Due to the high volume of traffic expected for the game, all airline and GA traffic must reserve a slot time. To reserve a slot e-mail Mike at mikemosh@cox.net. Slot times will be 20 minute intervals starting at 1700Z until 2200Z. Kickoff is expected at 2328Z. Slot time confirmations will be sent out on Saturday, February 6 and will include your arrival slot, session password (if necessary) and entry into our Football Squares pool for a chance at $20 in fspilotshop.com gift cards ($5 given away each quarter). Restrictions do apply, please read full rules and regulations for details.

If you're interested in maintaining one of the four available ATC positions for this event please speak with an admin.

Arrivals:

Due to a TFR over Land Shark Stadium (approx. 3 nm NE of KOPF) arriving aircraft can expect the BLUFI ONE arrival. Click Here to view and download the arrival from airnav.com. To accommodate as many aircraft as possible, runway 8l/26R will be closed for additional parking. In the event we run out of either gate space or GA ramp parking, aircraft will be lined along the runway for additional parking.

During The Game:

The Class B Airspace will close from 2200Z until one hour after the game. Any departures during this period must be pre-approved by the session coordinator and Miami Tower.

The TeamSpeak server will remain open during the game for pilots and ATC to discuss the game.

Departure:

The Tower will not begin departure operations until one hour after the end of the game. Departure clearances will be on a first come, first serve basis. Expect high volumes of post game departures and ground holds for spacing.

Should you exit the session and return for the departure, you must spawn at a gate, GA parking, or RWY 8L/26R only.
