I have a simple solution to that problem. It will cut the loading time down to under 30 seconds! Here's how to do it:
First, download the file CDFIX.ZIP from the file library. Once that is downloaded, extract FS2000NOCD.ZIP and place those two files in the main FS2000 directory. What this does is skip the search for the CD. The CD is also not needed if you are flying in an area that was installed onto your hard drive during FS2000 installation.
Secondly, open up the fs2000.cfg file in the main FS2000 directory
and change the following (see picture at right).
[MAIN] ShowLogo=0What this does is make the Microsoft logo not play, making loading time decrease even more.
One thing that I have enabled under Options in FS2000 is to not show the opening screen. This way it brings you right into the flight. The default flight I use is "Previous Flight." What this does is bring you to where you last left FS2000. Say you flew a great flight from Dallas to Atlanta and you wanted to start at the Atlanta terminal next time so you can make a return trip, start-up FS2000 and you're there. Nice feature!
Well, now that you have my advice, go ahead and try it. If you don't like it, hopefully you made a backup of the files you copied over in the Cdfix installation. Also, under the fs2000.cfg, just change the showlogo back to 1. This will fix the logo.
