How To...?

How To Get The Japanese Ships In CFS2 To "Work"

By Stephen Albert

Greetings, my name is Stephen Albert. Anyone who has wondered how to get the Japanese ships in CFS2 to work might want to read this.

I have always, that is, always since I played CFS2, wondered how to get the ships to work. I thought of how cool it would be if I could get them to do so. Ever since I "stumbled onto" FlightSim.Com by accidentally mistyping "FlightSimDownloads.com" I have been trying to find out how to make aircraft like the those wonderful ones which I have downloaded and seen. I have yet to find out how to make aircraft, though, but that's beside the point.

Anyway, here's how to do it: First, download the CFS2 ships for FS2002 updated version by Eric Busseau. (If you're reading this, Mr. Busseau, thank you for a job well-done.) Unzip the file into your FS2002 or CFS2 aircraft folder and take out the ships. Then, go into the "ships" folder of CFS2. The Japanese ships have titles starting with "shj_" (NOTE: J). Make copies of all ships that you wish to use (if you want to see pictures of the ships, in the main folder, go to "INFO" and look toward the end of the list). Paste the copies in the aircraft folder of the flight simulator in which you would like the ships to appear. (NOTE: This will only have the visual model, not the true engine characteristics etc.) Make as many renamed copies of the downloaded ships as you need and take the model and texture folders from the Japanese ships and drag them into the renamed downloaded ships. That's it! You're done!

I'm not exactly 100% sure about this, but this might be a way to get the visual models of the tanks and trucks to work also.

I wish you many safe simulated and real landings and happy flights.
