Load up FS2004, select the flight planner, and select Meridan (KMMK) as the starting and Danielson (5B3) as your destination. Select small GA parking, and select fair weather theme (or use real world weather if ideal for VFR) and start up the flight.
You'll be in the cockpit of the aircraft you choose - me, I chose the Skylane. Announce intentions to taxi and then proceed to the active. Apply full throttle and lift gently off the ground and climb to 2000 feet.

After take off, you will want to turn to the course on the GPS Screen. Once you get it, you will want to pretty much follow it - it's straight forward and nice and simple.

After passing Meridan, you will eventually come to Middletown. At Middletown, you will want to turn right to heading 095.
Follow that heading until you reach Willimantic. You'll see some nice scenery along this flight path, Deep River Connecticut, and Colchester. Once you reach Willimantic, you will want to turn to heading 140.

You will follow this heading until you reach Danielson, where you will want to turn to heading 110.

On this heading, you will pass Plainfield Connecticut, and even go into Rhode Island a little bit. You will pass Hope Valley, and once you reach Hope Valley, you will want to turn to heading 345, which will give you a view of Danielson and also, just so you know - that's Cucumber Hill you are flying over in the bottom left corner of the screenshot.

Tune traffic and announce position and follow standard procedures, you should land just fine. Go ahead - set her down gently on the ground.

Taxi to parking, shut off the engines. You may want to wait a day before we start the next flight. That is sad to say the last of the fall foliage tour.
Start FS2004 and you will be will be on the active for this flight - there is no parking to choose from at Danielson unfortunately. Announce take off intentions, and apply full throttle and lift off.

After take off, you will want to climb to 3000 feet, and turn to heading 200. You'll be able to enjoy this heading for a little while.

When you reach Pachaug Pond, you will want to turn to heading 230.
At that heading, you will soon pass Norwich, see a lovely view of the Connecticut River, and the coastal town of Old Saybrook.

After Old Saybrook you will soon want to turn to heading 255. Follow heading 255 until you see the vectors for landing at the ILS runway, and tune the tower and request landing. Once you reach the vectors, turn to heading 345 and that will line you up with the runway. You'll be all set to make a spectacular approach in this final flight segment!

You'll be right in line to land. Follow proper procedures, and set her down nice and gently. This will be one for the record books.

Taxi to the parking, shut the engines off, and take a sigh of relief. We've completed the Flap's Flap Foliage Tour! Pat your self on the back for a good job done, and go ahead - email the author a word of thanks for the great ideas (just kidding - though I do love to hear from my readers) and anxiously wait my next article.

As I'm writing Flap's Flap, I got to thinking. We all see the world differently. I'd like to extend the offer to make this an "interactive" article, and if you followed my flights, to post what you thought were the highlights of your tours in the screen shot forum here at FlightSim.Com. You can use the subject Flap's Flap even as a guide. If there are others out there you can specify your own title, but I would appreciate to see my column's name in it so I can spot it. I check the forum regularly and would love to hear from my readers on what they thought were the best parts of the flights to them.
I appreciate having my readers along and thank you all for taking time to look at my work. Until next time, happy flying and keep the blue side up!
Inspired by my article? Have any tips that you have discovered during the years, any questions or concerns? Email me at ragtopjohnny01@aol.com.
I'll see you next time at the end of January with the next edition of Flap's Flap!
