Setting Up Your Browser Caching

The biggest problem that people have when using FlightSim.Com, or any web site that uses a login system or that has pages that change dynamically, is having their browser setup wrong so they don't see the pages actually being sent by the web site. This problem can make you think that search results did not work because you keep seeing the same results page over and over or it can make you think the site is impossible to login to because you keep seeing the same "site busy" page.

What you need to do is make your browser load the actual new page that the web site is sending, instead of reloading an old stale page out of the local cache stored on your own computer. Exactly how this is done depends on what exact browser and browser version you are using. You may have to reduce the cache size to zero to make it stop caching things incorrectly or you may have to choose a setting that forces the browser to always load the latest page from the web server.

The screen capture below shows exactly how it's done with one version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Number 1, click on "Tools" in the browser menu bar and from the available selections click on "Internet Options". That will pop up a new window with a variety of options. Number 2, click on "Settings" under "Temporary Internet Files". This will bring up yet another pop up window. Number 3, click on "Every visit to the page" then click on "OK" to cause the change to take effect.
